Abstract
The distribution and kind of Leontopodium in Korea were studied. Hereby authors classified the investigated species as follows, namely; Somdari (Leontopodium coreanum Nakai), Wye-Somdari (Leontopodium japonicum Miquel), San-Somdari (Leontopodium leiolepis Nakai), Doome-Somdari (Leontopodium fauriei Handel-Mazz), and Hanla-Somdari (Leontopodium hallaisanense Handel-Mazz).
The comprehensive investigations on the environments, growth patterns, habitat vegetations and growth of transplanted plants were carried out to find the possibility of propagation and of the culture of Leontopodium in the area of low mountain level.
The results of study indicated that Leontopodium was very resistant to winter hardiness and drought whereas it was grown well on rocks as well as in high light intensity conditions.
Thus it is concluded that Leontopodium is possible to grow in areas of low mountain level.
